• Hi everyone, my name is Brodie and I am the founder of Darwin Chess Lessons.
I learnt to play chess when I was 19 years old and instantly fell in love with the game.

Since then I have played tens of thousands of games online, competed in various tournaments, started two social chess clubs (in Port Augusta and here in Darwin) and coached children both one-on-one and in schools.

But more than that,

it is about breaking down barriers between people.
If you know how to play chess you have a way of connecting with someone regardless of your age, culture, gender or religion.

  • When I moved to Darwin at the start of 2022 I become friends with fellow chess player Rajeev. Together, we formed Darwin Social Chess Club.

Darwin Social Chess Club meets every Sunday between 4.15-6.15pm in the Meeting Room of the Casuarina Library.

  • It is the perfect place to meet other chess players and enjoy some friendly games. Equipment is provided and it is completely free.

I have now started Darwin Chess Lessons to expand my passion for the game and give the people of Darwin an opportunity to learn and improve their chess.
